Finding the right size kilt
How to size yourself for a kilt
As surprising as it might seem, your kilt size is not your pants size. Kilts sit a bit higher than pants do, right above the hips, and just below your belly button. As a result, your kilt size is usually larger than your pants size.
The best way to get your size is to use a fabric tape measure to measure around your waist, just below your belly button and above your normal waist line. This will give you your kilt waist measurement. Because our kilts are mostly cotton and may shrink slightly when washed, we recommend you round up, adding 3 inches to odd kilt measurements and 2 inches to even ones. For example, if you have a 33" or 34” kilt measurement, you should go for a 36" kilt.
